Old machines on the road

Some sort of veteran mobiles rally across Australia, maybe twenty of vintage machines were spotted!

Arrived finally to Kalgoorlie, despite a murderous head wind all the way. Maybe the weather is changing or its the cyclone Loa thats north of me.

Back in the saddle

It's hard again start riding, after almost a week of not really travelling it feels almost scary to be moving again. At least I got an idea where to go and what to see, and not just wonder aimlessly.

I was suprised near Wellington dam of the scenery, the lakeside looks almost like it could be from Finland!

The good, the bad and the f###ing bush flies

One more cave, the Ngilgi just next to the camp site, which I finally left today. But not before one more morning swim at beach;) After cave crawling I had an idea of visiting the light house nearby.

But that was a mistake,as the area was plaqued with the thrice damned bush flies. I just snapped few quick ones of the light house and stormed backto the parking lot. These flies are as aggressive as the worst of horse flies and aim straight for the eyes, nostrils or ear canals. Truly infuriating little demons, they are. Even DDT is worth consideration when used against these pests.

Oh, and I think I saw a pack of dolphins at the beach, but didnt go greeting the fins. Safety first, specially at unfamiliar waters.

Busselton Jetty

Olipahan pitkä laituri, 1.8km ja rapiat päälle! Aivan päässä oli pieni observatorio, mistä näki kätevästi pinnanalaista elämää. Laiturin pylväisiin on syntynyt vuosisadan kuluessa pieni keinotekoinen riutta, minkä ympärillä kalat ja kalastajat viihtyvät. Innokkaimmat ovat jääneet näihin vesiin ikuisesti leijumaan.

It's a good way for starting your day: relax at beach for a while and wade in if feeling hot.

For two more caves

I'm getting overdose of caves, as the two I visited today didn't impress me much. Or I've been spoiled :) Mammoth cave was huge, but lighting should have been better. Cant remember the name of other, smaller one,but it wasnt that great anyways.

Rest of the day went on a small roadtrip to see a bit of the countryside, around the Bridgetown. Nice roads, but not much random attractions. Maybe tomorrow I stay by the beach and pina coladas...

Jewel, Giant and Lake Caves

The best way to survive a hot day is to go underground! These caves werent as huge as the ones at Jenolan, but well worth the visit, as usual.

The giant cave was one of the self-guided ones. You get your helmet and flashlight, and into the abyss you go. Merrily. Lake Cave is a bit special as it got a small lake on the bottom, thriving with pretty unique life, only found in this cave.

Giant cave did become really an experience, as the path through the chambers become harsher and tighter. I say that caves are the perfect place to combine fear of height and claustrophobia. And when the flashlight went off... and didnt turn on, it was nerving. Luckily the helmet had a dim backup lamp, onwards. This happened after climbing up a few ladders in confined space, and crawling through some cracks...

A bit further the only things found were a warning sign and a rope descending into the darkness. Only twenty meters or so down... say ten to be sure;)

Jewel cave was quite nice, but pales in comparison to Giant and Lake.
