End of the Road

Tomorrow I fly back home, after four months and almost 36,000km on the road. This blog is closing as well, thank you for all of your comments and interest - there has been times when hearing from friends and loved ones have been truly needed.

Official soundtrack of this tour is:
Metallica - Wherever I May Roam
WASP - Restless Gypsy

I may add forthcoming trips to this blog, but it remains to be seen.

Sydney by night

Lights everywhere! As it were, today was the last day of light week of Sydney. I didn't mind.

New Zealand can look like Finland with a dabble of snow! Returned the bike today, with +8000km on its' clock - bye bye F650!

Mt Egmont

Weather wasn't the best possible one, but a glimpse of the mountain could be seen... Dawson falls were roaring just nicely on the slopes of Egmont, and the tourist road did look like it's been used too much lately-moss was growing on it! At NZ the upper speed limit is really the 100km/h, with occasional recommendations if the road conditions are demanding. Mostly though, use of common sense does pay divends on these roads...

Coromandel peninsula

Yet again, another brilliant location for a ride - a long winding road past pristine beaches and up some hills. I wonder how the place would have looked during the summer months!

More from Rotorua and about

I'm amused about the local chockolate bars, for the obvious reasons! The Goverment Gardens Park did also an impression on me, regardless of the all around lingering smell of sulfur...

East Coast and Rotorua

The SH35 between Gisbourne and Opotiki is truly a great road - to ride a motorcycle. It also takes you near the filming locationof Whale Rider, and often just hugs the coast line. Unfortunately there wasnt many good places for pictures, or maybe I've been spoiledby the scenery of the south island.

But there are the geysirs at Rotorua.. and a faint reek of sulphur in the air!
