Motorcycle Museum of Ipswich

Well, I thinkthey have on display the ugliest bike of the world! And the biggest one too. And the V2-engine sawed off from a Rolls Royce Merlin... 5000ccm, after the builder decided that it could be enlarged from the original size ;-) An aussie with a hacksaw and lots of beer, end results are unpredictable, but spectacular!

Army Flying Museum, Oakey

Just when I thought that nothing of interest will show up...

A pieceof Red Baron's triplane (it was an aussie who shot him), some curiosities that were purely made in Australia, only. A nice evening jacket for the airforce cadets, some stories how aussies get things done and an airport terminal of the right size.

There's been two finnish brands that have shown up every now and then. The other is Rapala.

Carnarvon Gorge

This is teh place for a walk: Quite pretty gorge with 10km trail (one way) up the river, with different side gorges and paintings along it! At some places I was thinking of Indiana Jones, pushing through rainforest foliage.. Actually some spots are the only places where truly ancient plants are still groving. Not that I would have known without the helpful information posts.

Camel boots, for men walking their own paths, as the old marketing slogan goes. The trail crossed over the river in many places, and after crossing 13, it was safer just to wade to the other side than to jump from a stone to a stone. I wonder how the shoes look like, after they have dried out...

Capricorn Caves

Yet another series of cave pictures, these caves were nice, but not spectacular, IMHO. The people working there were!

Some sort of travelling fatigue is bothering me currently, but maybe it's a sign to keep a mini break and wash the gear ... it has become quite rancid.

Aussie IRC

Not a very inspired travelling day today, as most things just went wrong - finding a dead (boiled) bug from my morning coffee was the start for the day. Area near Mackay is just littered with road works, and some vital signs were missing too.

Townsville

"Does fool ever learn?" Me, myself and route selections of mine ;-)

Wallaman Falls

I stumbled upon this one by chance, but the 50km winding ride up the mountain was well worth it.

Shortcut shown on map was only 150km, but it took rest of my day to navigate through it. As it were, the road was in development phase after Mt. Fox, and was peppered with 'Grid type bridges' - I hate them.
