Doubtful Sounds

The south-west corner of south island is just beautiful, and weather unpredictable... In addition to the attractions of nature, there's all kind of touristic sights too, like the Museum of Toys and Transportation near Wanaka. It has an eclictic collection of toys, fire engines, airplanes (Mig-21), old cars, chainsaws, meat mincers and whatnots. Pretty much mindblowing experience, as the whole display is packed quite tightly.

The Fiordland provides natural sights not unlike Norway, as well as a good spot for a water power station - which is located deep underground.

Te Anau is truly the gateway to this area, and the road between Milford and it provides breathtaking views - unless it rains with clouds hanging low. Scenery was totally transformed on the way back, as sun had burned through the clouds. I didn't have the time to ride all the way, and there was a warning about black ice on the higher parts of the road.
